Obedient People DO Have Hardship Sometimes

I’m gong to be reading the book of Job over the next (probably 40) few weeks because I feel that it is an important story that diffuses some of the myths about hardship. One myth is that you are not a child of God or you are in current sin/disobedience if you have hardship. Another myth is that everyone who is a child of God is guaranteed lifelong financial prosperity. Both ideas are false, and I think the book of Job is a good reminder to all people that:

a. God’s children do suffer sometimes and do not always have financial prosperity
b. Anyone could lose everything that he/she has at any moment in time.

I’m just going to read it with my primitive equipment. Will probably post a bit every Friday/Saturday. Listen in if you like. God bless.

2 Corinthians 11:1-17

Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty . . .

Romans 8:17-21

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption . . .

2 Corinthians 10:10-18

10 For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. 11 Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.
