The Secret Behind The Rockettes Famous Wooden Soldier Fall

The world famous Rockettes share the secret behind their popular wooden soldier fall. Since the 1920s, the Rockettes have dazzled the world with their amazing dance moves and performances. These talented dancers have such skill and grace. Over the years, they’ve become a symbol of New York and a goal for all elite dancers. One of their most famous numbers is the Wooden Soldier Fall that is performed during their Christmas Spectacular. This optical illusion number features all of the dancers dressed as toy soldiers. Together, they stand in a single file line. Then, one by one, like dominos, they slowly fall to the ground. For years, we’ve watched this difficult dance and wondered how the Rockettes were able to pull it off. Now, they are pulling back the curtain and sharing how the wooden soldier fall comes together. Today, we get a behind-the-scenes look at rehearsal for this famous dance and hear from the women themselves about how to perfect the number. Rockette Sarah remarked on the popular move, “It’s the epitome of what the Rockettes are. It is precision dancing, but this number has been around and in the show since 1933. It’s definitely a fan favorite.” After we learned how the fall is actually executed, I was even more in awe over these talented dancers. This takes so much skill and practice but they pull it off flawlessly. This is definitely a tradition that I hope never goes away. Who else enjoys watching this ‘optical illusion’ dance from the Rockettes?

84-Year-Old Army Nurse Completes 10 Pushups

This 84-year-old Army nurse proved that age is just a number as she completed 10 pushups in a challenge at the airport. A lot of people think that when you reach a certain age, you are unable to participate in physical activities or truly energy life. Veteran Lt. Col. Maggie DeSanti served as a nurse during the Vietnam War. Recently, she was at the airport in Phoenix, Arizona for a flight to Washington D.C. through the Honor Flight organization. This non-profit helps veterans fly to the Capitol to visit the monuments. Maggie came decked out in her Army uniform and ready to prove that she was still fit for serve. While going through security, she challenged the TSA agent to a pushup challenge. The younger gentlemen accepted and the two got down on the floor and started to push out reps. Everyone was in awe when Maggie had no problem completing ten pushups. This is just another example of why age really is just a state of mind. This 84-year-old is living proof that if we keep things moving and take care of our bodies, we too can be moving easily long after we reach ‘over the hill’ status. She is such an inspiration to everyone watching and definitely put a big smile on my face! We are so thankful for the brave men and women, like Maggie, who served and continue to serve our country. When I am this age, I hope that I have half as much energy as this incredible veteran! Who else agrees?

Losing To Win

What would you say to an offer of an Abundant Life filled with good things that no one could ever take from you? Jesus offers just that. There’s just one catch. You have to give up your life. Which do you want? The life you planned or The Life Your Creator has specially designed for you?

Life and Death

Most every fear we have leads to the big fear — the fear of death. Even as we are describing Heaven in glowing terms, we are trying very hard not to leave earth. Everybody wants to go heaven, but nobody wants to die.
Hebrews 2:14-15 tells us Jesus came to free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death. Watch and be free of the fear!

Life In The Womb

Jesus gave a very significant clue about how to understand the real meaning of being born again. He said what is born of flesh is flesh. What is born of Spirit is Spirit. So to understand being born again spiritually, we need to remember what it was like to be born the first time in the flesh. Today we take a field trip to the womb!

Where Life Begins...

Jesus said if we want to see God’s Kingdom, we just have to do one thing. But how to do that one thing may be different from anything you have been taught. Let’s start with a simple question. When did your life begin?

Alone

Sure you could try to do it alone but...... some things are just done better with others

Craig Morgan Performs Emotional Tribute To Son That Brings Celebrities To Tears

Country singer and songwriter Craig Morgan performs an emotional rendition of his song "The Father, My Son and The Holy Ghost" that brings everyone to tears. In 2016, this country superstar experienced a huge loss when his 19-year-old son, Jerry, died in a boating accident. The unexpected death sent shockwaves through The Morgan Family. But three years later, Craig was able to put some of his deep emotions into a song. “I cried and cried and cried until I passed out on the floor Then I prayed and prayed and prayed till I thought I couldn't pray anymore And minute by minute, day by day, my God, He gave me hope I know my boy ain't here but he ain't gone” While a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Craig described how the lyrics of the song came to him in the middle of the night. He got up from his bed and it took him less than four hours to finish the entire song. But Craig was unsure if he would ever be able to actually sing the heartfelt words in public. He debuted the song at the Grand Old Opry and barely made it to the end without breaking down. That’s when he encountered Ricky Skaggs backstage who told him that the world needed to hear these words. “In the mornings I wake up, give her a kiss, head to the kitchen Pour a cup of wake-me-up and try to rouse up some ambition Go outside, sit by myself but I ain't alone See, I've got the Father, my son, and the Holy Ghost” Many people were touched by these rare and real lyrics. One person who was hit hard by the words was fellow country star Blake Shelton. After hearing the song, he was moved to make a post on Twitter. Even though Blake currently held the number one spot on the iTunes chart, he wanted to help "The Father, My Son and The Holy Ghost" take over. He encouraged his fans and other celebrities to purchase the song and it eventually went number one across the board. Now, Blake is sitting in the audience as Craig performs this incredible song on The Kelly Clarkson Show. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the place by the end.

Blind Singer Earns Golden Buzzer With 'Rise Up' On Australia's Got Talent

22-year-old blind pianist Paul Kapeleris earned the coveted golden buzzer with his stunning performance of ‘Rise Up’ on Australia’s Got Talent. Paul won over our hearts before he ever stepped on stage. We learned that this young man suffers from a rare eye disorder called Leber congenital amaurosis. This leaves him with just five percent vision and he is also partially deaf. But none of this is stopping Paul from living his dream and performing on the big stage of Australia’s Got Talent. Lead by his mother, Paul brought some of the judges to tears with his rendition of ‘Rise Up.’ “You're broken down and tired Of living life on a merry go round And you can't find the fighter But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out And move mountains We gonna walk it out And move mountains” As he sits at the piano, all of the emotions start to flow. Paul’s big voice came as quite a surprise for the judges and crowd. But as he belted out the words, it was obvious that Paul was a rare talent. “And I'll rise up I'll rise like the day I'll rise up I'll rise unafraid I'll rise up And I'll do it a thousand times again” After his performance, judge Lucy Durack was moved to press her golden buzzer. But, despite the standing ovation and confetti raining down, Paul had no idea what had just happened. It wasn’t until his mother ran onto the stage that the young man realized that he would be moving on in the competition. What an incredible moment!

Teens Duet With 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' On The Voice

The Voice contestants Josie Jones and Kat Hammock perform a unique duet of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads.’ This classic song was written by John Denver back in 1971. It became an instant hit for Denver. The entire tune is an ode to the great state of West Virginia. “Almost heaven, West Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River Life is old there, older than the trees Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze” Today, two younger contestants on The Voice are taking on this nostalgic tune. 16-year-old Josie Jones and 18-year-old Kat Hammock are both members of Team Blake. After nailing their blind auditions, the teens were paired together for a singing duel in the battle rounds. With help from advisor Darius Rucker, both girls were tasked with putting their own touch on the classic song ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads.’ “Country roads, take me home To the place I belong West Virginia, mountain mama Take me home, country roads” Almost everyone knows these nostalgic lyrics. Nowadays, our world seems to always be in a hurry. The words paint a picture of a simpler time where back roads and Mama’s homemade dishes were all we needed. It’s definitely a treat to hear these two young women belt out these iconic lyrics. Even though they come from different styles, this classic country tune seems to be the perfect compliment to their unique vocals. After Josie and Kat received rave reviews, coach Blake Shelton ultimately chose Kat to continue on in the competition.
