Summary: David spent the first four years of his reign as king hiding from Saul in the desert. While David could have killed Saul and taken the throne, he refused to take victory at all costs. Our integrity and our ability to control and not retaliate or to return anger to others is essential, because no longer are our base instincts ruling over us, but as followers of Christ, we have been enslaved to God's will over our own.
This is a short extract from a sermon preached by Rev Erlo Stegen on 5 July 2015. His starting point is Jn 4:46-54. In particular he emphasized the part where Jesus said: "Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe." Please excuse the quality of the video, it was before we improved on our equipment. Nevertheless the message is so crucial in this age where belief in feeling has superceded faith in God's Word. He preaches in Zulu and it is translated into English. This is an extract of a sermon on 15 December 2015 during the Youth Conference. Rev Erlo Stegen shows how our salvation is from Christ alone and not from us. "He is the author and finisher of our faith". Heb 2:2 www.kwasizabantu.com YouTube.com/KwasizabantuMission GodTube.com/Kwasizabantu
Money itself is not evil, and to have it is not evil. It’s when we find ourselves desiring it more than we desire the Lord, or unwilling to give as God tells us to, we find ourselves facing all kinds of temptation and evil. So why is Paul bringing this up to the church in Corinth and the church in Galatia?
Each and every one of us does not have fewer sins than those people we deem most sinful. We must remember that He has paid for ALL of our sins and in that moment when we enter heaven and fall at our Savior's feet, the saints around us will not see how respectable we are, but they will SEE the pure unrestrained love for we have for our Savior.

Summary: David is described as being a man after God's own heart, yet his victories and failures are both clearly shown in scripture. As we look at David's spiritual journey, we consider how it might reflect our own. We start by looking at David's victory over Goliath, and how God desire is for us to focus on Him and not on the obstacles the bring fear into our lives.
