My name is Linda Bennett. I was diagnosed with cancer on Dec 22, 2011. Very scary to find out you have a cancer that one in a million would get - Leimyosaracoma.
I started my treatment on Jan 3, 2012. It was a very frightening time. I did not have insurance and both my husband and I did not have a job. Not by choice - my husband’s job was eliminated after 32 years after working for the Muskego Park and Rec Dept. and because of cancer I was not able to work.
We had just paid off our house and then I got the news about my cancer. I started my treatments and had my last treatment May 8, 2012. I then started getting bills from the hospital and since I did not have insurance they started sending them to collections and they in return took it to court and now there is a lien on our house.
In August, I had a pet scan and they found 2 tumors on my lungs. Because of the stress with getting all my medical bills sent to collections I have put any further treatment on hold. I have not had another pet scan since Aug 8th.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. Our family stumbled upon helping people climb out of crisis by welcoming homeless families into our own home. Families experiencing hard times stay for free for a month or two- long enough so they can save for a security deposit and get into permanent housing.
When it snowed and six inquiries were made on our spare room, my husband and I moved out of our master bedroom and bathroom and slept on the living room couch so a sweet lady sleeping in her car would have a warm bed. A picture book about our experiences can be preordered at www.TheBestDinnerINeverAte.com. A guidebook is being developed, so, similar to a foreign exchange student program, host families can have a screened, insured homeless family come stay for a short while. Families on both sides of the wall will have a life-changing experience, and get to taste how sweet it is to serve The Best Dinner I Never Ate.
